I enjoy working closely with one or a few students who really want to learn and work hard. If you feel called to do this, drop me a note below or stop by for a walk by the beach and a cup of tea. The dogs and I love visitors, and I look forward to sharing my library and beautiful writing space. For details, see my page on Mentoring.

I invite you to join me in my peaceful home by the beach on Whidbey Island near Seattle. After years of teaching about harmonizing Heaven and Earth in stuffy rooms in big cities, I have realized the wisdom in the teachings of the Ancient Sages, that deep learning requires space and quiet, to empty the mind and "fast the heart." No better place to do so then by a huge expanse of water (or better yet, inside or on top of it). For convenience sake, we may also gather at the downtown Seattle office of the Lotus Institute. For our first offering Jan. 26-28, 2018, see our page on Virtue Healing.

Several times a year, I leave my beloved dogs and get on a plane to meet with the many lovely friends, students, colleagues, and teachers I am so honored to know all over the world. Click HERE to see what I am up to in the next few months. And if you don't see me coming anywhere near you but have a group who wants to study with me, please get in touch and we can see what we can arrange.

While I thrive on personal interaction, sometimes meeting in person is just not possible, and it is good to embrace technology. Skype conversations are always an option. A longer-term mentoring program for Classical Chinese with a combination of in-person and on-line meetings is in the works. Stay tuned and sign up for my newsletter at Happy Goat Productions.

學而時習之,不亦說乎? 有朋自遠方來,不亦樂乎?人不知而不慍,不亦君子乎?
To learn and to apply it in practice in due time, isn’t this uplifting? To have friends come from far away, isn’t this happiness? To not be upset when people don’t know about me, isn’t this the sign of a cultivated person?
