Welcome to the Imperial Tutor mentoring program by Sabine Wilms, PhD. Connecting personally and deeply with fellow dedicated colleagues, students, and practitioners of Chinese medicine is one of the great pleasures in my life. This is especially true when it is done over a leisurely cup of fine tea or walk by the beach.
Our collaboration can take many different forms, depending on your needs and resources. First, I invite you to become an “Imperial Mentee” by joining my monthly membership program. Find out more on this page or just sign up here. Thank you for your interest!
Here are some of my areas of expertise (click on highlighted topics for suggested study outlines):
Literary Chinese vocabulary and grammar, and strategies for reading, translating, and interpreting, with an emphasis on medical literature.
Classical Chinese medicine: Women, pediatrics, and reproduction in Chinese medicine; Yangsheng (nurturing life) as micro- and macrocosmic medicine; Sun Simiao; medical ethics; and Wang Fengyi and virtue healing.
Manuscript preparation and Publishing advice.
Sustainable farming, goat husbandry, and homesteading.
If you feel called to working with me personally, drop me a note below or visit me on magical Whidbey Island near Seattle. After years of teaching about harmonizing Heaven and Earth in stuffy rooms in big cities, I have realized the wisdom in the teachings of the Ancient Sages, that deep learning requires space and quiet, to empty the mind and "fast the heart." No better place to do so then by a huge expanse of water (or better yet, inside or on top of it). As needed, as small groups we may also gather at the downtown Seattle office of the Lotus Institute.
I leave my beloved island quite regularly to meet with the many friends, students, colleagues, and teachers I am honored to know all over the world. Click on this LIST OF EVENTS to see where I am scheduled to teach next. And if I am not coming anywhere near you soon but you have a group that wants to study with me, feel free to get in touch and we can see what we can arrange. Lastly, while I thrive on personal interaction, sometimes meeting face to face is just not possible. Skype or phone conversations or emails are other options. A more formal mentoring program for Classical Chinese with a combination of in-person and on-line meetings is in the works, so stay tuned for that. Imperial Mentees will be the first to hear about that and receive updates, syllabi, sample lessons, and a chance to shape this new offering in accordance with your needs and wishes.
If you would like my assistance by the hour, you can simply purchase it at my online store here. For financial and personal reasons, you may want to gather some friends together, old and new, far and near, to form a study group and split the cost. I am open to any arrangement and can help with that. Alternatively, come visit me for a weekend internship and let me and Whidbey Island nourish your body, heart, and spirit.
Let's share a virtual cup of tea!
